Insurance Renewal - well pleased

Post by robmarrs » Sat Jan 13, 2018 12:51 pm

Just thought I would share how pleased I was with my renewal.

I have had a multi-car policy with Admiral for a few years now, for the Alpina, Porsche Cayenne GTS and wife's DS3 Racing. this years renewal was going to be over £1500 which was a £250 hike over last year. I started doing the usual web search using the Porsche as the bench mark as that is the daily hack. Found I could get the Porsche down to about £470 with Direct Line from £642

Next morning I phoned APlan in Thatcham who are the BMW Car Club Scheme provider, they also insure my Track E46 M3. I was astounded at the quote, Under a £1000 for all three! I have 3 points, 9+ NCB, the wife is Diabetic which restricts her Licence, my two are parked on the road, and this is with protected NCB bonus, and no voluntry excess.

The highlight was the Alpina @ £277.00 with an XS of £300, a value of £30k, Limited Mileage of 5K, parked on road and Business use!

Well done APlan!

Mine is with the BMW car club insurance too Rob. I was insured already via Aplan but the renewal was daft so checked the BMW club quote. Same underwriter and terms as before but for half the price! I think I pay more as I’m classed as a young hoodlum compared to you Rob

Probably a daft question. But do you have to subscribe to the BMW Club to get these deals?

I’m not 100% sure but probably. But it’s only £45 a year and you get 10% of parts, a decent club magazine and the savings on insurance so was a no brainier for me.

Tried to use Aplan for our z4 a few years ago as they were bmw club specialists - lost confidence when they asked was it a 2 door or 4 door z4 and was it Petrol or diesel. Carried on and took insurance to get policy and it stated as I kept it in garage it has to be overnight in garage every night. If I left it on my drive it wouldn’t be covered. Changed it for direct line and been with them ever since. Use Hastings for d3 biturbo. £330 pa including business use. Happy at that

Please note the BMW Car Club insurance is via A Plan, however for the discount it is necessary to be a club member. The second thing to note it that it is only via the A Plan Thatcham branch.

speak to Carlie Norwell or Claire Wilkinson on 01635 874646

I have two cars with them and household insurance.

If you do not phone this branch other branches will have no idea about this deal
and hence will ask 'standard' questions from a computer script.

advice. if your car is replica then you need to state so, if you have no paperwork (for older vehicles) and it is a sytner or others modification they may ask for proof.
