I had similar problems insuring the B3 Touring. I had 15+ NCB but was assigned to the M3.

Adrian Flux £1600
A-Plan £1000 +
Sky £600 (mirroring the existing NCB)

In the end, I went with Footman James who will insure a modern BMW/Alpina under classic policy if you are a member of the BMW club. £290 for agreed value and salvage retention!
Current Collection:

Porsche 997.1 Turbo Manual, 997 GTS, 996 C4S, 911SC Targa
Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
Lamborghini LP560-4 Manual

I rang them today and asked them to check things as it wasn't consistent.

They've now offered me a reduction from £411 (on the automatic renewal) to £300 on the strength of a phone call. ..But not before they tried to ask me what I'd been quoted elsewhere.

They also tried to apply a £35 "Policy Issue fee" even on a renewal !!

I'm still tempted to put all 3 with Admiral on a Multicar Policy instead.

What we need is a system that the Canadians in British Columbia use/used. Car insurance is run by central government. You have an accident. One of the government engineers will look at the car and issue a certificate that you could use at a body-shop of your choice.

This was about 18 years ago, so not sure if they use the same system now.

A friend who lived there said it was a very good and cost effective system compared to the money grabbing company's over here.

I have three of my cars on with a Admiral Multi-car Policy because it was cost effective at the time but its only the first year with them so don't know what they will be like after the honeymoon
