I was also considering the number of B10 3.2's remaining on the road the other day, and since you appear to be keeper of the unofficial B10 3.2 Register, wondered if you wanted to compare notes?

My records show:

- 17 Saloons currently carrying a valid MOT (29%)
- 16 Saloons confirmed dismantled (accident write off/broken for parts, etc)
- 6 Saloons and 1 Touring whose last MOT expired more than 12mths ago.

Therefore, there are another 20 Saloons and 4 Tourings that either I've never located or when they have been for sale/discussed I couldn't collect a valid registration so can't confirm current MOT status.
Bob,
Mark (Mr-P) started this thread and kept a spreadsheet on the 3.2 models. I scrounged a copy off him some time ago, modified it and started updating any that I spotted. Unfortunately he has not posted on the forum for a while now so I hope he is ok.

I agree with 16 of the saloons as being dead one way or another. I guess you have been looking up all the others on the Gov.uk mot site or is there a better way? Obviously current reg numbers are needed for that. I will see how many I can check with the list of reg numbers I have and get back to you.

#89 is one of the saloons that is off the road on Sorn. I am hoping to be back on the road next year. Working away and buying/refurbishing a house has been the priority. Most parts are bought, just shocks and springs to buy and get everything fitted then a paintjob and it shall be on the road.

Good to hear from you Ronnie and that #89 is still around, the last note I had for your B10 was dated 2011.
Have you had any issues with sill / jacking point rot? Unfortunately a very common problem with these cars it seems.
Good luck with getting her back on the road next year and please keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Jim, last time it was down for an MOT was March 2018.... and failed! It does have a crack on the bottom of one of the rear shocks as well as abs light, sticking caliper and a couple of worn suspension bushes. I had noticed a couple of the floor bungs have since fell out... In terms of jacking points, they seem to be fine, but the ends of the sills are showing age. before it goes for paint i will get the jacking points looked at however and remedy any issues.

Mechanically it has been fine, it was on a dyno in 2016 with 115k miles, and still got 260bhp.
I have a full suspension arm set for front and rear, a host of items for a cooling system overhaul, relpacement abs module and a caliper rebuild kit sitting.

Back in 2011, the car cost me 3500 to buy from a workmate so it does not owe me anything in fairness. Since getting it, I have only done 15k miles over the years, I think it has been off the road in my mums garage more than anything, mainly due to working abroad and only coming back for a few days every month or so.

Thanks for the reply Ronnie, a good move preparing the parts in advance to spread the cost of getting your B10 back on the road. It sounds as though you bought it for a bargain price back in 2011.
Watch out for any minor looking corrosion issues on the rear of the sills as sometimes it can be a lot worse under the plastic covers, as I found with one of the sills on my B10.
Good luck with the project when you start it.

Looks like someone has picked up #065 and is trying to flip it. Now down in Shoreham-on-Sea

Interesting Bob, I updated the original November 5th post for #65 yesterday that showed as deposit taken on Pistonheads with an asking price of £7995, so someone must have paid less to be selling it for £8500. It's a shame to see it changing hands again but maybe the "sprinkling of Alpina dust" will help it find a long term owner. :D

Seems a bit ambitious since the same seller couldn’t shift it last March at £6.5k

Hello all, yes, I'm the current owner of this car: I'll add some more info this eve, but I have a small window of circa 8 months to own an E39 M5, a car I've always wanted to tick off my list, so the B10 is sadly up for sale, along with my E39 528i MSport manual (£2k spent in past 12 months at BMR plus another Indy - I like my cars to be right!).

I've spent £1000 on the Alpina since buying it just 5 weeks ago, inc console removed for pixels to be repaired, an innop computer stalk button, new front discs and pads and calipers, a gritty throttle cable and an oil service, innop high level brake light, all carried out at BMR. I stand to loose all of this (I most certainly didn't pay less!) but at least this B10 has been perfected for the next lucky owner :-)

It's a beautiful thing, best part immaculate inside and out and is clearly a car that deserves to be kept in top condition. My family and I used it all throughout Christmas, racking up a few blissful miles up and down the country.

I can share photos of said invoices for anyone seriously interested.

Best wishes, all.

Thanks for posting about #65 Ruscoid, it sounds as though you have got it up to a good standard ready for resale.

You mentioned that the high level brake light wasn't working, if you are referring to the one on the back window then to the best of my knowledge this was disconnected by Alpina in favour of the one on the boot spoiler. I believe this has also raised issues during mot inspections for some in the past. I know mine is not connected and has been this way since acquiring the car at 4 years old.

It sounds as though you are a lover of the E39 models and I can fully understand your desire for an M5 so good luck with your quest. Perhaps you could let us know when you finally sell #65, although to be honest it might take you a while going by previous sales of them.

#169 is up for sale today, not seen it since 2017 when it sold at CCA.

Looks well, but then it has had a respray when the colour was changed, might have been a while ago now though.
