E46 B3S Suspension - Still Available?

Hi

I saw a few posts with queries about whether or not the OEM suspension was still available for the E46 Alpina? So I contacted my local Sytner parts department and asked for the cost of the complete Suspension Kit and if it was still available, we are talking shocks, coils, mounts, anti roll bars nuts, bolts the lot........

They came back and advised yes, it is available, 6-8 weeks lead time at a total cost of, including VAT

£2748.37

91473100134 kit

i put ohlins RT coilovers on mine and had hundreds of pounds change! Granted its not OEM but thats a bit choppy!

Looks like your timing was very good Hap, according to BMW the 91473100134 kit is no longer available.

I encountered a similar issue last year with the suspension refresh on my E46 B3S touring. The prices had definitely increased when compared to some of the historic figures on the forum.

I also tried to get the kit with the single part number and I was advised it was NLA. The front dampers were also not available, with no estimate on when they would be again. I hope the situation has now improved.

In the end I just did the rear shocks, springs and spring pads etc as they were needed, I never got around to the fronts as I sold the car.

I had the following reply from Alpina back in December when I was trying to track down front dampers for my E46 B3

"We are in contact with some supplieres for those shock absorber, but till now we don´t have some positive news.

Please inquire the needed part numbers in 6 months again.
Thank you for your understanding."

Everything else is available.

My plan is to fit the M Sport Sachs dampers on the front for now.

I believe Bilstein do a shock specifically for the E46 B3. Almost identical without infringing the patent rights.

What would be the right springs for these?

The Alpina ones Avtar. I used these bilsteins with the Alpina springs before switching to Ohlins when the front bilsteins failed

I've no experience of the standard alpina setup but the B8s rode well on our poor roads
