Mileage

Post by aba » Fri Apr 21, 2023 9:32 pm

First things first ... ( hello everyone and thanks for having me ) apologies for the silly questions in advance.

I'm not new to BMW's .... but this is my first Alpina .... that being D5 2012

I purchased it direct from Sytner, ...as per image, thing is ..I'm absolutely loving this car .... but constantly giving myself a hard time on the mileage.

I know its not high for a BMW, but I just keep convincing myself it is...... I've never felt this way before regarding mileage on any previous BMW.

So why now .... i'm literally terrified on hitting the 100,000.

With apologies to David Bowie:

Ground control to Major Tom, approaching 387,000 miles and nothing's wrong 😀

Just drive the damn thing - that's what it's there for!

Completely agree with the other responses. A car like that is for driving, not to make money out of.

Both of mine were circa 70k when I purchased them several years ago. I rotate pretty much weekly and both have gone through the 100k with ease and now heading towards the 130's and 140's Mark.

I still get the same buzz every morning and love owning these rare machines. Just enjoy what you have; the rest is just numbers. I don't care about the mileage anymore.

Just breaking in at 100,000, so what’s the build number?
B5 G30 number 332 (development car)

D5 number 21

D3MT number 284 (gone but will be sadly missed)

Keep servicing it, maintaining it, driving it and enjoying it!

I'm in a similar position, about to trip over 100k in the next couple of weeks having added nearly 30k of those myself, but if a diesels not for mileage, what is? :D

As everyone else has said, just drive it and enjoy it! My 2014 D5 has covered 156,000 miles. I can’t think of another car that offers the same power, space, comfort and economy.

Great looking car.

I love my D5. Amazing car. It has everything a family needs.

Clocked up about 7,000 since November 22. I spend most of my weekends ferrying the kids to football or netball matches all round Manchester. Trying to avoid the speed cameras on the M60 motorway!!!

Cheers Rob
