Is anyone a full Goodwood Road racing Club member?

Post by Norrie » Fri Oct 21, 2022 8:39 am

I joined the Goodwood fellowship around 4 years ago and have now received an invitation to become a full member at 590 per year. The 4 years of fellowship fees are deducted making the offer 430 for 2023.

I am wondering if anyone here is a full member and what their experience might be and if they consider it worthwhile in terms of value and how often do they attend the major events and perhaps some of the others? What is their view of the "benefits".

Hi Norrie,

I'm a full GRRC member and have been for a few years now. I actually joined in the first year the club was open (1998), when I think the annual cost was something like £25(!), but foolishly let it lapse and then had to spend several years on the waiting list.

Worth checking that pricing - I have just had my renewal through and it's £315 for the year for one adult member. Are you sure the £590 doesn't include the one-off joining fee?

I would say the extent to which it's worth it depends on how much you will use it. If you go to most of the events, and make use of the free Thursday FoS ticket, then the cost is probably almost earnt back in discounts (before you factor in the benefit of paddock access at the Revival etc). There are a number of other benefits this year like access to pre-event testing, forward parking and I believe they are improving the members' enclosures.

I live about 45 minutes from the circuit so do also occasionally use the Kennels, which is a great place for a drink / lunch / spot to work. There are also other members' perks like the annual garden party, weekend drives (although I admit I've never done these), free round of golf etc.

At under £30 a month, if you look at it that way, I think I get decent value from it, but I think it will depend on what you will use it for.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. yes there is an initial joining fee. Then the amount paid as a "fellow" is deducted which brought it down to 430 I think. Fortunately I have discovered that 3 friends and one othe rperson I know have also joined. We have made use of the Kennels its a nice facility. I will be going to maximise the use of the membership.

The only other thing I am committed to is the Silverstone Festival used to be called Classic which is Aug bank Holiday 2023. There will be a separate ALPINA section as in 2022, but I shall leave all the details of that to be posted in due time by the organiser.
