PS4 being phased out? Now superseded by PS5?

Anyone know if this is correct ? I’m due to change my rears - see other thread in tyres/mot
Anyway my mot centre saying PS4 being phased out and now ps5
There is limited stock but weirdly they are 199 per tyre as apposed to the runflat which is 190! Normally there are dearer the new ps5 are actually cheaper at 171 per tyre
My dilemma and yours possibly is if this intel is correct I put on PS4 and then can’t get the fronts so would be mismatched OR do I risk PS4 rears and I’m looking to change the front in next month or so and pray there is stock left over??

Umm yes that’s an option but looks like decent gains on the ps5 …. Still plenty of tread on fronts for a bit so loathe to swap them

I am waiting to change off my winters still, each time it starts to get warm we the. Seem to have torrential rain!

I was struggling g to get PS4’s in the sizes I needed, and started to notice the PS5’s being advertised, so am waiting till they have a broader selection available and will go for these. They do seem to have further improved all round capabilities so I am hoping will be a suitable all year tyre for me - I never drive anywhere to ski for instance so snow use less of an issue for me.

I know they aren’t exactly the same but I wouldn’t be too worried to run PS5 on the rear whilst you finish off the PS4’s on the front. Seems silly to buy the version which is being phased out to me.

Thanks chaps I think I’ve decided to go the 5s and see what miles i get out of them as alleged better/improved wear rate

Been and sorted to 5s my front are wearing on edge but have 4mm so plenty tread left

Are you currently running PS4S Paul? The PS4/PS5 tends to be for smaller sizes - there should be a PS5S along at some point to cater for the bigger ones.

My summers that needed to be replaced were of the Pilot Super Sport variety, so a PS4s would be an upgrade anyway, but trouble is there appear to be no 255x35R20's around at the moment.

Generally I thought the Michelin PS4S now PS5S are superior to Pirelli’s for overall performance and most if not all others?

I quite often see BMW drivers change from the stock Pirellis to PS4S.

I see them as a business deal as with Castrol and Shell oil which is the recommended brand now. Perhaps I’m just a traditionalist.
