B3/D3 updates

Post by JCC » Thu May 26, 2022 5:15 pm

LCI cars are on the Alpina website - B3 now has 495hp and 730Nm, D3 engine looks unchanged.

It looks great IMO. Have the prices increased? There is no D3s on the configuratior for some reason…

The B3 touring was £70950 list, now £79000 so an £8050 increase - the standard spec is better though. I really like the front with the angled grille and slimmer lights but not sure about that big widescreen on the dash - buttons or dials for changing temp. now gone….progress?

It’s been a while since I optioned the car but I don’t see anything on the standard spec list that wasn’t on mine by default except for power folding mirrors (too bloody right!). If I’ve missed anything else, it’s not a biggie.

Looking a bit closer there’s a notable addition to the options list - M Sports seats - which addresses a fairly common complaint with the standard G2x sports seats.

There’s also a notable omission - no HUD.

The HUD is part of the live cockpit professional (plus is standard) - at £1000 I guess similar cost to HUD option before.
I thought I had read that icon LEDs were now standard but they aren’t so it is maybe just the mirrors! Autocar say the D3 has more power and torque but it doesn’t.
You can have a carbon roof on the saloon though as an option - perhaps a bit more M than Alpina.

I’ve been on the lookout for a new Alpina and after 8 months of looking I’m seriously tempted to just order new.

Just specced up a D3s and confused as to why you have to pay extra for the classics? Surely they should be a non cost option

Order one! They are just the best cars - my D5s is getting near I think (hope!) which will be my third.
The classics are 20” and forged which is why they are an expensive cost option - standard 19” dynamics are cast - Slightly lower profile with the 20” trade off with less unsprung mass as well as the looks preference (I like both) and the £2000! - I drove a B3 touring on the classics and thought the ride was good albeit not as good as the B/D5 on the same size wheel but it is a more nimble steer.

Thanks for the reply

It’s the D3s that I’m looking at as the kids are now 7 and 12 so the need for a big boot that can fit a pram etc isn’t there, my wife drives the D5 99.9% of the time so I would have to persuade her first.

A near on £10k price hike for the B3 with only a bit more power and power fold mirrors now standard not the £150 option they were!

Not happy about that and also noticed the laser head light option has been dropped!

M front seats now available as an option which is good BUT only with the basic "pleather", not on the merino or lavalina.

Not keen on the ipad dash either compared to the previous layout.

B3 looks impressive with 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. The D3S is the same as the pre facelift version so no changes on power outputs and not much of a change in the full life cycle for the G20/G21 generation for the diesel option.
