My warranty decision - finally made

Post by Norrie » Sat Nov 20, 2021 2:38 pm

I have finally come to a decision concerning the extended warranty on my B7. The premium currently is 2293.08 per annum and would be rising for 2022. Looking at the very low mileage I have been doing over the last 3 years its quite an expensive comfort.

After my deliberation I have decided to cancel it. The vehicle will now be laid up and garaged for the winter, SORN and I will reduce the Insurance vehicle cover to just an non road using one.

There will be bills, but I can take that risk as annual miles is barely 1500 miles, just really to car meets and shows, it gets no other use.

I thought £850 on mine was a bit steep.

Shame you don't drive it more Norman. 1500 miles per annum is very low and that in itself can be bad for a car (dried out seals etc). Regardless of warranty I hope now the world is mostly open again you get to give her more use outside of shows. Mine is no daily but she's also no garage queen either.

Jules - I really am only interested in taking to events which have some value to me. These are fairly limited without repeating the ones I have done many times before. I have to confess I have found it increasingly difficult to motivate myself to do so. I have no doubt all the horror stories are potentially true but at about 120 pounds a tank currently and the other cost savings I will cross that bridge when it arises.

Perhaps 2022 will have something new to offer? I also have been working from home since 2008 so apart from the odd trip to the shops in the old E39 I dont really need to go anywhere much.
