ULEZ - older ALPINAs

Post by nealpina » Mon Sep 20, 2021 10:43 pm

Does anyone know if B3 3.2 and B10 3.3 are Euro 4 compliant?

If so, any ideas with how to update the V5, or TFL and other city's tax-collectors?

I'm fairly sure all iterations of the E4 engine from E36 3.2's E4/0 through to the E39 B10 3.3 LCI's E4/7 and E46 B3 3.3 ALLRAD's E4/8 were all Euro3.

Interesting, the Archive's engine spec pages list all the E4 variants as Euro3, but having checked a selection of regs in Total Car Check:

- E36 B3 3.2, E46 B3 3.3 (pre-LCI), E39 B10 3.2 & 3.3 (pre-LCI) = Euro2
- E46 B3 3.3 (LCI), 3.4 (pre & post LCI), E39 B10 3.3 (LCI) = Euro3

According to the Archive page it's Euro3 and Total Car Check reckons your reg is Euro 3 too

Hi i have a B10 3.3 switchtronic Touring 2002

I enquired to tfl about ULEZ exemption & was told i need a emission certificate from the vehicle manufacturer.

I contacted Sytner & got Alpina's email.

I emailed Alpina "classic@alpina.de" & it cost 60euros for the certificate.

NOxvalue:0,059g/km
This car met the emission standard Euro 3 and use fuel type super unleaded.
------------------------CO2 emissions------Fuel consumption.
---------------------------- g/km. ------------ I/100 km
Urban conditions: ---------409 ----------------17,1
Extra-urban conditions: --200 -----------------8,3
Combined: ------------------276-----------------11,5

I then submitted it to tfl through there website, it took about a month but now it's ULEZ exempt.

Thanks for this, and good to hear. Nice result

I just arrived home. After I have absorbed the information which you provided I may post later

off tangent to the reply. I did email TFL during the consultation (or whatever it is called) to say why the zone shouldn't be expanded, I didn't say I have 2 future classics but did make valid reasons why it shouldn't be expanded. My reasoning why I didn't mention the ALPINAs: if I said I have several cars then they may say that he can afford to pay for the charge

Am I correct that it does not necessarily mean a petrol car needs to be euro 4, but the emissions need to be below a certain level?

Are the E36 B3 3.2, E46 B3 3.3, B10 3.2 and 3.3 have the same emissions?

I wrote to my contact at Alpina after successfully getting my Boxster S on the ULEZ exemption with the help of the Boxanet forum.

The response was basically no. The B3 3.3 is not Euro 4 compliant.

If I understand this correctly, although the 3.3 was classified as Euro 3, it's actual emissions tick the Euro 4 boxes in terms of NOx emissions (less than 0.08g/km) and so can be exempted?
