Tailgate badges

Post by JCC » Wed Jun 23, 2021 11:58 pm

Just adding to the comments on the badges on G31 #055 which is for sale - mine originally had the full set on for the original owner which I had removed as I thought the “BITURBO” a bit too much and the chrome badges clashed with the Matt silver roof rails and window surrounds. I then came across some German pictures of LCI cars with paint colour matched ALPINA and B5 badges without the BITURBO (all LCI seem to have dropped the BITURBO) but I liked the look of the paint matched badges.
Mine is pre-LCI, and so I had to order the ALPINA badge for the left, and B5 BITURBO for the right as they are sold as individual sides (!) they are not cheap - but Sytner Nottingham painted and fitted them - probably a bit marmite but I am really pleased with them and like the subtlety. I have the unused BITURBO badge (unpainted) left over.
Subtlety appears to have been short lived though as currently back at Sytner having full silver DEKO-SET fitted hopefully back with me on Friday!

For me I do like this stealthy look, especially in this colour.

PM's about the spare badges too.

Personally I prefer the full script in chrome, but as long as you're happy that's all that matters. :D

I love this one, very tempted to change my wheel & badge colours. As Bob says, it's a personal thing. Eye of the beholder and all that.

I think it depends on the spec of the car. The one above has all black window trims, roof rails etc so the black badges match. On cars with silver surrounds, it maybe wouldn't be the case. Edit: Having said that the OP's car has silver surrounds.....

TBH, I love the OPs car - the colour is great. I actually think it works in all three iterations!

Sorry but I don’t see the point of colour coding badges, they are meant to stand out. If you don’t like them take them off as it cleans up the lines nicely. The centre picture looks great with no badges.

I do have a history of removing badge clutter, especially on fords, who like lots of fussy crap. I really don’t like the bi turbo script but one off, all off and don’t want to spend a day removing the glue and cleaning the paintwork.
