switchtronic???
switchtronic???
Is switchtronic just a posh word for paddleshift?
Re: switchtronic???
It is ALPINA's way of describing their automatic gearbox system where, when switching to "manual" the gearbox holds the gear selected unless the lower rev (stall) limit is reached. This allows the driver to use the gearbox as if it is a manual but without a third pedal and is very unlike Sport Mode to be found in BMWs. In earlier models, it was necessary to move the gear lever before this functionality was available, but more recent models allow the buttons/paddles to be used immediately. When this happens, the switchtronic mode is selected for a brief period before reverting back to auto mode, unless the buttons/paddles are still in use. Otherwise, shifting the gear lever provides "permanent" switchtronic.
