Numbers of E39 Touring B10 3.3
Numbers of E39 Touring B10 3.3
I was chatting with a friend about my 3.3 Touring #047 at the weekend.
He asked how many were left, being now all about 20 years old. I said I thought there were about 70 built both RHD and LHD for foreign markets as well as UK.
Of the UK ones then, how many are left as I had no answer for him? Also do we know the car numbers out of interest?
Is there an archive on this forum somewhere?

Re: Numbers of E39 Touring B10 3.3
The simple answer is, no-one knows for sure but I've probably got as good a view as anyone. There isn't a single source of all the info you asked about, but the two starting points are the Archive (https://www.alpina-archive.com/?page_id=20) and the Register (www.thealpinaregister.com/register)
The Archive is a global view which is primarily updated based on vehicles seen for sale and through contact with owners, but vehicles that haven't been seen aren't published online (you will notice there are many gaps in the sequences). The Register is more UK focussed and was primarily updated by owners registering their own cars. There is also the Stats page (https://www.thealpinaregister.com/uk) which has production stats provided by Sytner but that seems to cut off around 2017.
For the UK, there are supposed to be nineteen 3.3 Tourings but I have only been able to ascertain eighteen specific build numbers to date. These are split eleven pre-LCI & seven LCI, and of LCI cars only one was manual (#054).
For the eighteen cars:
1 x Dismantled after Fire (#006)
1 x Exported (#026)
3 x Have held a valid MOT in last 5yrs but currently expired (#004, #013, #021)
9 x Hold a current MOT (#003, #010, #011, #014, #037, #047, #051, #057, #059)
4 x Don't know current VRM (#015, #054, #058, #068)
Also, interestingly, #011 is rumoured to have been first owned by Chris Harris' wife and #058 was last seen running air-ride and a supercharger.

#58 ended up having a cracked piston so is currently getting a fully forged setup with mahle motorsport pistons - not sure if it still has the air-ride.

I think he avoids the ALPINA Community these days ... he got quite a hard time when he announced he'd fitted air-ride and a few other mods.
