If it did actually exist I would be all over that

Never quite understood why they never dabbled with the 2.

I can’t recall exactly where I saw or read about it* so I can’t post a link but Andy Bovensiepen was asked about a hypothetical B2 in an interview and he basically said that to fettle an F22 to bring it up to the standard of a true Alpina they would have to ask a ridiculous price for that size and type of car, which would make it a very tough sell. He also said the the M2 is such a good car already it would be difficult to compete with it and find a niche for the B2.

*I’m wondering if it was in the long interview being chauffeured by Joe Achilles.

I have been really tempted to buy a competition, but wanted a change with the alpina. But in essence it’s like the normal M2 and the interior is not special enough and only available in dull black. I chose the M240 with the m performance kit as there was much more colour options and very little performance difference to the std M2.

I do still hanker after a1M.

Interesting that AB thinks that it is such a good car; my sentiments entirely, with only the interior being improved as an Alpina! 8)
M2 Competition in Long Beach Blue - growly and great!

I did a driving day at Bedford Aerodrome, BMW Masters of Performance I think its called. Driving all sorts of BMW M car's, M4 comp, Z4m, new 850m and M5. The highlight of the day was following an instructor at ever increasing pace. I was told on the day I was fast and I was pushing as hard as I could in the M2 but the instructor could still get away from me in the M235i. I then did 40mins track time with an instructor and video instruction and ended up only 3 tenths off the instructors time. Not a cheap day but probably the best experience day I've done.
I still stand by it though that all those M cars were great on track, but I'd rather drive home in an Alpina any day. It was funny as they said at the end of the course, be very careful when leaving today, as you've been driving at high speed all day, the local Police know when we hold these days and they sometimes hang around outside. I turned left out of the gates and within 10 seconds an unmarked Astra with two white shirts was right on my tail. I smiled and cruised bang on speed limit, followed me for a few mins then spun it round and headed back to track. Got to get up earlier in the morning to get me.
