Privacy glass

Post by woolley11 » Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:42 pm

Now I quite like privacy glass for the rear of the vehicle. Only a lightish shade, not “pimp” style 😄

My last two (and my current) BMW 5 Tourings had it and I think the privacy glass set them off.

Thinking of getting the B10 Touring done eventually when other more important jobs all sorted. 🤔. With it being a light interior and glass sunroof it won’t look too gloomy.

..... or leave it ?

Depends on the exterior coplour of the car and if you have chrome window aurrounds IMVHO whether it would suit it or not.
If you have the chrome surrounds I 'm not a fan of the dark tints

Wooley, notice you're based in East Yorkshire; i had my E61 done by a guy up near Driffield about 5 years ago and he did a fantastic job. It lasted perfectly, never scratched, and i went for his 'OEM' shade which looked very good (not too dark in my opinion) There were varying shade options.
Price wise the whole back end (7 windows) was less than £300 IIRC, but as i say about 5 years ago.
Can get more details if you would like.

Woolley, I have been at an M3 meet today with another Mark and I’ve been told that the motorist is open tomorrow, although I can’t go.

The BMW meet is first Sunday of month, so get it in your diary, maybe we can coax “76” to join also.

Doubled its trade in value with a couple of genuine Carello Mk3 Escort headlights in the boot though!

Whilst amusing, there is an unfortunate hint of truth in this

Thanks Marc 76. Is that an M5 Touring you have? 😊

I took my previous 5 series touring to guy near Ripon and I was well pleased - agree the OEM shade is best.

Pm me with his contact details.

I’m near Market Weighton but yea let’s try and meet up with a few of us. There must be a number of owners around the York / East Yorkshire

No M5 tourer i'm afraid - wish it had been though! Now replaced with the Alpina, but it was an awesome everydayer.

Looks like he's moved from Driffield, appears he's now just out of Beverley in Leaconfield! (even handier for you)

Tint Tronics, his name is Carl.

As i say he did a great job on mine and when i look back on my old correspondence with him it was a mere £220... (In 2017)
