Well i've bought this car today  bit crazy and theres been a fair amount of talk about it over the years as this is the car that has been spotted a few times parked up on a driveway in Caulsdon Surrey over the past 10 years because well its been off the road that long. Loads of rumours flown around some true, some not. Its got an MOT now from BMR and i'm picking it up saturday. I looked last Saturday gone with Barry at BMR where it came in for an MOT. Which i should thank Norman for! My luck in this is Barry didn't have the cash for it, so as it was forsale it was offered on to me. As seller wasn't keen to go to market with it as such

Viewed saturday just gone, tried to thrash a price out came to within £250 of each other, i thought a few days on it and came up to the agreed value and here we are

Its a fair story to this, only a few owners, the last being a chap who bought it in 2004 until it changed hands a few weeks ago. This gentleman sadly passed away in 2010 and his wife kept the car as a keep sake as they used it for holidaying in Europe mainly Germany with much autobahn action. Since he passed his young son used to play in it so there's a little damage to bodywork from that. History well there is some. Its on its 2nd service book! the original is missing, there is alot of main dealer servicing. It was sold new from L&C Croydon to its first owner, then a chap called Brian bought it in 2001 who lived in Caterham Kent. Then he moved it on in 2004 to the chap who sadly died so the V5 stayed in his name until a few weeks ago when Peter bought it, and now me

So roll forwards 10 years and his widow decided to let it go. Which is how Peter got involved who i've just bought it off as the widow wanted it to go to someone who may give it a new life yet. She knew through family that Peter i've bought it off was a car person. Peter decided its not for him but has carried out some recommissioning work to get it to an MOT standard as for obvious reasons would help the sale of it wisely.

theres lots to do! A fair amount of work required, luckily its been stored covered in the dry so the interior is very good conditon wise and not damp. It just needs a good clean. mechanically its not bad, needs alot of work but its the bodywork which is going to cost. Wheels need refurb, tyres are very old. Theres too much to write, oh and its a low mileage 235,000 miles but its 1 of 2 we think LWB B12s sold in the UK. I've always fancied one if he chance came along and the moons aligned, my wifes pissed but hopefully i can get it into a better state and use her to waft around in. E38 is my favourite looking 7 series and the Alpina treatment makes them even better, another lucky one i've managed here! I've broken my V12 cherry, thats alot of engine in the bay right there. This things been on the road alot really racking up 235k from 1998 until 2010!

I'm sure its going to be a journey on this, roll on Saturday i can't wait see how it wafts down the motorway!

no plans for an epic manual conversion. It had in 2007 for £8000 a brand new gearbox on 182,000 at the main dealer! mental

The cars complete and original still despite the mileage which is great. E38 build quality like e39s at its height for BMW it seems

Just as well I'm up to my eyeballs in an E39 M5 touring build for myself or it would be long wheel base V12 E38 number 3 for me!

This car despite the leg is not the monster some people have perceived it to be. Certainly nothing like the one that has recently popped up on Youtube!

It's currently resting on my drive waiting for 13 to collect. My kids were bemused with the VHS player.

This deserves a round of applause Simon. What an epic bit of kit!

Very much looking forward to seeing this when able. When you've got her how you want I hate to think how long a full inside and outside regular detail will take - there's a lot of metal and cow there.

Brilliant addition to the stable.

Well done in saving another rare beast, look forward to seeing your reports on the work needed to bring it back to life.

Hope to see it at BMR next week.

You must be running out of brave pills :D
