Well i'm sure there will be the good bad and ugly. Hopefully this car responds to treatment nicely. It needs a few grand spending off the bat, i'll make a list Saturday and sort the most important stuff first or as money allows

I've sorted insurance which wasn't to difficult so now just have to wait to collect, which seems a long time to Saturday now

Good job there Simon, you're building up quite a fleet of epic machines.
What does it need straight off? If it has an MoT after being sat for 10 years it can't be too drastic?!

I have a few spare bits n bobs, like window blinds if needed...

funny you say about blinds Drew the drivers rear quarter light is broken. From my first look most of the interior stuff is working. 3 out of 4 heated seats most of the seat electrics. 1 head rest isn't, the air con is dead

It needs a fuel tank common e38 issue, some brake hoses, arms on the front, tyres are 10 years old, wheels need refurbishment but has a 5th spare 20 inch rim. Sunroof needs greasing. I've not tested alot, infact i've not driven it. Barry drove it yesterday took it to his house from work as BMR are so busy. He says EDC works, radio works. Auto box seems nice and switch tronic is working. Engine runs well and has alot of torque. Pixels on the dash all good

The damage pictured to rear arch, that rear door is also kaput with damage. It needs the windscreen out to remedy some light rust from a replacement windscreen.

Its had engine oil and filter, a new battery and alternator, front to rear brakelines, new discs and pads all round, new front brake hoses and new fluid. So its had a fair bit of work to get it back to where it is now.

Need to get it home and have a play with all the gizmos and gadgets 1998 had to offer!

Well the last few days have felt like time has stopped, I was awake at 6am this morning half cocked to get this old bruiser. I'm ill!!

Image

quick stop to its natural habitat,

I must admit i've just been driving it a bit today i've done about 90 miles so far

Image

Its too long for a normal parking spot

First impressions? I've only ever driven 1 e38 before and that was a standard 750il for about 10 minutes

It rides very well, its quiet. The v12 is a special engine, so smooth. Its got double glazing but it appears people from the outside can hear more V12 noise than you can on the inside!! I think there's a decent car here still, with use and playing with it stuff has started working again already. All the interior electrics are working seats heated seats windows, sunroof. PDC is dead and air conditioning the two main things of note and a good clean inside.

Engine has lots of grunt and revs well, its nice to waft about in.

negatives? brakes are shit, i think stevie wonder has cleaned the rust off the discs with an angle grinder, a slight coolant smell when warm from the engine, steering is a bit vague and a slight wobble through wheel at motorway speeds, most likely the 10 year old plus tyres, it needs some brake reaction arms on the front

I'm going to give it a wash see whats there tomorrow, i'm thinking the mud flaps need to come off also
