McAlpina

Post by FlyinRyan » Tue Feb 09, 2021 1:55 am

There seems to be quite a few Alpinas for sale in my local area, which started to get me thinking. Can Scotland lay claim to the highest concentration of Alpinas in the wild?

Currently there are 5 cars for sale in my local area
https://www.carreraspecialistcars.co.uk ... asgow-u31/
https://www.carreraspecialistcars.co.uk ... asgow-u34/
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... obcid=soc3
https://www.easternwestern.co.uk/nissan ... 775144432/
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... sed&page=1

So with 5 cars for sale in Glasgow alone, plus the other cars I know of in my area (my D3, D4, D5S, E39 B10 V8S and an E90 D3) Glasgow must be in with a shout of being able to claim the highest concentration of Alpinas per capita (circa 650,000)

Add in the cars from Edinburgh and Aberdeen and we're looking at a pretty impressive McAlpina meet when we're allowed out to play again!

I have noticed when previously searching that Alpinas do seem more prevalent in Scotland for whatever reason.

#062’s last owner retired her to his holiday home in Perth after she stopped daily duties in London.

Historically, it seems like Aberdeen has had the highest concentration of active forum members but that may be quite different to the total number of ALPINA’s in a particular locale.

Would be interesting to know more about the B10 V8S you mentioned. I would look forward to a meet up when things have settle down.

There are 3 Alpinas in my village, which is surprising as it's a small village. There is my D3 BT, a older B3 Cab and a B3s touring. I did hear a couple of lads riding by on their bikes the other day saying "hey look that's an Alpina, we will have to tell Dad". I hope Dad is into cars and has an Alpina and is not a prolific Car Thief.

Not too many North of the border that I've seen, but there've been a couple:
  • CABRIO #001 has been for sale on and off for years, based in Carnoustie
  • COUPE #094 was in East Kilbride until Hashluck bought it last year

Don't think there was many face lift Coupes in the UK, and there was 2 not far from each other, Must be this McAlpina thing again Never seen this one, even though I stay not too far away, been to East Kilbride numerous occasions, then again the Register says it was dry stored for 10 year  where is it now?
