I had a local garage leave a 1/2 inch ratchet drive and socket on the scuttle of a car I had in for a service. Didn't notice for a couple of days. They were please to see it back and had a policy of fining the mechanincs for such misdemeanors (to focus their attention).

This is far from uncommon. Happens in the medical profession too!

I purchased a brand new Mini Cooper from John Clark's in Aberdeen for my son as a gift for him getting his honours in 2002 and after he had been driving it for a couple of weeks he repeatedly said he could hear a rattling sound from the back. Took car back to dealership and nothing found. He kept hearing it so I took the car for a spirited drive over varying surfaces and heard nothing and thought he may be just worrying about normal noises with it being his first new car. But as I approached home I heard it. Insisted at the dealer's that there was definitely something and a few days later they said it was sorted and when I got there to pick the car up they showed my a spanner about 12mm guage that was found in the rear internal bodywork. Could only have been there from the factory.

When I told my wife about the torch being found and that I have had major surgery over the last 5 years the first thing she said was i hope they haven't left anything in me!

Point taken albeit, there is entire legal industry set up for medical negligence and serious repercussions (understandably!). Can you imagine if dealerships/garages were held to the same level of accountability?!

Bob, I don't think the strange noises I make could be blamed on that

As I mentioned in my last post the car has been back with Marshalls Hampshire for a suspected failed clock spring/SZC. Eventually the buttons on the steering wheel, gear change buttons and horn stopped working. The part was replaced under warranty so we're back on the road again!

We've been using the car for work and not much play but this morning we did manage to head over to the Haynes Breakfast Meet at the Haynes Motor Museum (we were the last to leave and forgot to take any other pictures!) Bumped into a few Maserati owners/sportmaserati forum posters. All in all a great morning. Can't go wrong with a bacon roll and a car park full of loud toys.

Mrs FiFTY
