Insurance - For new arrival

Post by Aus_Pol » Tue May 07, 2019 12:23 pm

Hi all,

New move to the UK.

Have an Australian license, but can convert to UK. Held Australian license since 16 years old (now 32).

No accidents, 1-speed infringement (7km over) about 5 years ago.

No no claim bonus to carry over (cars were covered by work).

Only looking to do 2-3,000 miles a year, looking at an Alpina Roadster (£15,000 value).

Lock up garage, about 300m from home (neighbors garage).

Online I'm getting quoted £2,500 - 3,800. Ideally comprehensive would be nice, however I'm happy to only have third party.

Any brokers out there that someone could reccomend?

Would even be happy with just Saturday / Sunday usage.

If you've not done so already, have a chat with A Plan Insurance in Thatcham. The contact details should be in the insurance section.

Might also be worth speaking to LV - as opposed to on-line. Once you get through to a human, they can be pretty good if they can find the car (listed under Alpina or BMW Alpina....).

Hope that helps,

Mike
