My old E36 touring had them and i didn't find them to bad. They're quieter than the elephants ears mirrors on the motorway or "higher" speeds

Looks good Simon, looking forward to seeing it about. Tier 4 is the perfect excuse to graft on the car without the other half having a moan about it :D

I only just noticed that it is LHD
Is this so you can rag the arse off it around Europe on holiday jaunts?

You are a brave man to have opened the sunroof
Great progress as always

It's LHD as a RHD Biturbo is an impossibility.

In a weird way i find LHD adds a bit to the sense of occasion when getting in driving as its an odd ball car. You could say that if it was rhd aswell

There isn't enough room barely for the turbos let alone room for the steering on that side!

Washed it, needed the tooth brush to get the moss off the trims and some back to black trim. Needs a serious clay bar and polish. Interior needs similar love

Then on to a plan in tier 13 lock downs for MOT and the last bit of work it needs

Must feel good to be at the stage where detailing is nearing the top of your to-do-list.

Had a bit of a fart about today, tinkering jobs not changing gearboxes

Image

finally bought the proper relay, this was handy work from 2 years back which got the engine cranking over

Image

finally bought some new bonnet struts, again i should of done this a while ago! The glass tailgate ones need changing also

Image

its not genuine the 40 plus quid BMW are asking is a piss take. See how long the fake one lasts!

Image
Image

Nearly finished retro fitting the rear door blinds. I love a door blind! Theres cutting and hacking to do on the door card to get these on

Gave the interior a clean/hover and the leather a much needed feed. The trim is in great condition for the age really.

So plan is off for MOT next week and while its there sort a few of the jobs i don't have the skills to do. Main one is to get EML light working so she fully boosts. I can't wait

Drove her to BMR today, 51 miles no sweat. I'll be honest i was shitting it leading up to this drive with what ifs. I'm a bit silly with no breakdown cover either but i avoided the M3 "smart" motorway as if i did breakdown i didn't fancy dying and my car being written off on one of our new safer hard shoulder free motorways. I needn't of worried it behaved perfectly and sat on the motorway with ease. So first test passed with flying colours, well chuffed as it was a heap of parts 18 months ago

So at Barrys for an MOT and to sort the EML wiring which is the fly by wire throttle so it boosts fully, being main jobs. I could feel it wants to really fly but the throttle butterfly only opens about a 3rd. I'm not keen on the short shift gear lever (E60 545i) its got fitted so that may have to go and buy a standard throw lever.

I've forgotten the looong gearing aswell. 70mph in 5th? 1500rpm sir
