First family day out in the new bus - Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales in bright sunshine and snow showers!

Cruises like a dream on the motorway and has highly impressive overtaking ability on the A roads. Plus the kids love the pan roof- win win :D

Great to see another dirty D5. It’s good to hear your first family trip has gone well.

Small world, we were at Bolton Abbey on Thursday gone, parked in the same car park by the look of it, but sans ALPINA.

Riverside car park! Small world indeed Bob, hope you had as good a day as we did :D

Finally got my tailgate switch working and glass tailgate/wiper adjusted and working on my B10 Touring.

Spent 70 bucks getting a new switch & number plate light unit. After fitting it still didn’t work 🤔

Looked through the wiring off the old unit and sussed which wire fed the microswitch. Traced a previous repair in the tailgate loom on that wire “colour”, once I pulled it all apart at the O/S tailgate hinge, the old repair had failed. Soldered a new connection and taped it up. It works ok at moment 🙏.

Why is this wire, which to be honest is significant, (I suppose all wires are) not much thicker than a few hairs !!
No wonder they fail 😏

Anyway I’m a happy bunny - another couple of jobs ticked off and I’ve now fresh number plate lenses and bulbs aswell.

Water skied. Its above 10 Celsius. Drove the long way to and from the ski club. Sunset trip home. Epic. My ski was strapped into the passenger seat. Never head a word or complaint about my late braking , sliding the rear or accelerating hard out the corner. The RS #19 is my waterski car. Sorry D3 #218 but you are simply too efficient.

I went to Middlesbrough this afternoon to a M3/4 owners meet, it was in an new industrial estate car park.

Slightly disappointing as everyone turned up in the previous shape M3, currently have a sticking calliper on the E36, so took the Alpina. No surprise that I was the only one there.

Not a fan of red cars but liked this M3.

Noticed that I had lost a badge, upon opening the cover I found the spring, washer and nut. In actual fact today I did a lot of swearing in my Alpina!

Removed front and rear number plates from my B3 3.3. They were 'Bobs motor factors' or similar and didn't suit the car. I removed them carefully and spent a good three hours scraping the years of black double sided tape off. WD40 works well, but needs time to soak.
I found a BMW/ Alpina Bar code behind the old number plates on the car. Any idea what this is for?

I will put the new Retro Plates on tomorrow - if it is warm enough and get some pictures up.

Only a brief drive today, and functional rather than pleasurable, but still 8) Was very tempted to take an even longer way home.

After getting my B6 out of hibernation it developed a coolant leak which was very annoying. Took it to a local indie and found it was a temp sensor had cracked. Had the car serviced and Mot’d at the same time so good to go...until I found there was no sound from stereo etc.
The problem unfortunately I think was they jet washed the car over enthusiastically and managed to drown the amp.
I guessed this is what happened so got a replacement item and stripped my boot to get the amp.
Sure enough loads of water marks on the amp!
Fitted new amp and sound sound has been restored. Luckily it doesn’t need coding so plug and play. Normal service is resumed. I’m putting it down to experience and I won’t sorn my car next winter. The B6 obviously took the hump. Getting the new Italian stablemate didn’t help either!

Collected the rebuilt Escort engine, gotta love a touring!

I did have enough boot lining sympathy to make a wooden enclosure for it though...
