What did you do in your ALPINA today?
Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?
I drove my E46 B3 3.3 in anger for the first time since March and managed 4 hours of driving. I took her to see Barry and Ross at BMR and what a place!
Alpina cars everywhere including a very nice B9 3.5 in tasty orange!!
Ross gave the car the once over and has given me the thmbs up, she is worth saving and now i have to decide Alpina suspension or Bilstein B12 or B8.
A question for the group - The autocar feature that ran a feature on my in August 1999 states that the car features MacPherson Struts and Bilstien shocks. Now I was under the impression that Alpina favour Sachs shocks and thier own springs. Can anyone help here?
I am partly considering the Bilstein route and with the savings have some odd bits sorted on the car - some corrosion, fuel lines etc. I suspect that the delta in price is going to be aroun the £2k mark.
I will post some pictures up under my my ride thread.

The E46 B3 cars went with Alpina-specific Bilsteins, I believe

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?
E46 Alpinas used a Sachs shock OEM. Any form of bilstein is aftermarket. Bilstein list a shock for the e46 Alpina, which i have on my B3S front and rear . I've not driven an E46 on a fresh original setup to comment on that but my car rides very well on our roads and isn't harsh but is taut for the bends still

I stand corrected - thanks Simon

Today I took my '98 B10 for her 18th mot since I have owned her and she passed again with no advisories, lovely . Even the dreaded E39 handbrake performance was up slightly on last year.
My mot tester warned me about a knock on effect due to the lockdown 6 month mot grace period. In future years there will be more demand for mot's in November which would orignally have been for May so I will need to book earlier next year to play safe. Likewise for some other months I guess?

Good to see you’ve got the gearbox back Si, hope that’s the end of those dramas.
