Today I fitted my winter wheels. Picked up a genuine set of 5 series (F10) wheels in decent nick with 245/45R18 Dunlop Winter Sport 3D tyres (4mm all round) for £320 last week. 10mm spacers needed to correct the 30mm offset to 20mm suitable for the B5 (and longer bolts).

They're not quite classic multispokes but they do fill the arches pretty well. Ride is good and I can't wait for some slippery weather to try them out! One of them is missing a centre cap so I'll replace them all with Alpina ones soon. Very happy!

Refitted rear door sound insulation/vapor barrier with new butyl tape - no more leaks :D

Replaced two rear PDC sensors - I don't get the 5 second beep and warning anymore when putting into reverse but also don't get any sound when reversing near something :(

Brake pad warning light came on and was overdue microfilter and spark plug service. Booked it in for these and ended up with front discs, rear pads, oil service, aircon regas and fluids check on top!

Oh and a rather large bill! Merry Christmas!

The biggies were:

Front discs: £210
Front pads: £144
Rear pads: £120
Spark plugs: £105

Plus £260 labour, associated extras and then the dreaded VAT. £1150 in all.

fitted my Alpina back box at long last had it probably 8 years in the garage! Being mild steel there are very very few E30 Alpinas sporting a proper alpina exhaust now. My mid section and 6 branch aren't OE but the sounds worth it.

Took the car out the garage today to stretch it legs and check fluids and give it a once over as I have’nt touched it for 6 weeks. Can’t wait for the nicer weather again.
Now I have the Outback this old girl can be just a fair weather car now. When the roads are salt free and dry I will be looking forward to a few good drive outs and remind myself what an awesome motor this is.😉
