Man, if you can afford the GT3 you should buy it. Have you seen the YouTube clip of Andy driving his around Nordschliefe? Fricking awesome, and quicker than some very expensive cars.

I love the HUD and HK - good choices! BTW you can get the HUD to show lanes like on the main nav but for me it would have to be "coded" to do so - if you want that maybe worth checking it's like it "from the factory".
The new HUD does have nav on the display as an option.

Thats the Speed Limit display added to my spec. Had missed that so glad you'd posted it up Guy thanks. I spent half the time coming away from Sytner trying to work out what speed it was for the 10 million speed camera that are in and around Nottingham!

One aspect of the new touring I like is the 40-20-40 split folding rear seats.

And given how fast this car can pile on the speed (0 - 100 mph is just over 10s), its too easy to break the speed limit without realising it.

The HUD should help with 'current speed' and 'speed limit' in your line of sight.

Bizarrely it is a feature I miss in the Alpina (when compared to the Morgan). I use a Garmin in the Morgan which not only posts up the limits, but my actual speed - which is a good 10% lower than the work of fiction that is the speedometer.

HUD gets a big thumbs up from me - although it took me a while to dial into the instructions and how it issued them - I missed a couple of turnings the first few times.

HUD joins comfort access on the "nice toys - but really bloody nice to have" list. I am partial to a sunroof (don't have one), lavalina (have nappa) and decent speakers. Auto dimming mirrors are nice, auto lights aren't, nor is active cruise (IMHO).

I took the view that Active Cruise and lane departure were just lazy toys, they lower your awareness perception as your relying on the electronics to take over and as a result your not as alert as you should you (thats my roadcraft training kicking in!).

The leather was the colour for me rather than any particular leather... and given I couldn't have the perforated leather I wanted (more breathable) I went for the Oyster but insisted on the lower dash being in black. I do like that Alpina keeps the light coloured headlining and ABC pillars.

What I mean is on mine eg when about to leave a motorway the HUD shows 2 lines with one coming off and smaller arrows along the bottom to suggest the best lane to be in. The "coded" way shows the actual motorway graphic (road lanes) just as is displayed on the main screen. You can see an example in the original F30 brochure I think...

But maybe you mean you can choose either way now - if so cool 8) and my tip is pointless

Yes. I asked early on about collecting from Buchloe as I didn't know if they'd do a BMW World collection or from the actual factory and was advised that collecting from factory is absolutely fine and Jonathan at Sytner would be able to arrange this for me.

That is interesting - something I've always fancied...

The digital display you speak of - is that a bit like the air-vent level thing in the B3 GT3?? Not seen this option on the F30..

Ta,

Tim

It's exactly the same;
Here's a link to the company offering the retro fit of them.

There's a youtube of the Alpina B3 at the Geneva motor show detailing the Digital Display - you can see they're identical.

It is a stunning looking car. Go on, as they say 'you can't take it with you'!
I know what you mean. It's the colour I don't like plus I have a niggling doubt an M3 CSL would prove to be a more striking drive and better investment. Might have to go and have a drive. If it clicks.........

Only thing is you either sink 60k into a depreciating asset (not great sense) or you finance it and let thenfinance company share the risk. If you do that Sytners are quoting 12.9% APR! Now I've never financed a car before but seriously? When my bank would lend money at 3% why does Sytner think their car is unsuitable security at anything like that...? If they aren't confident then why should a buyer be?

12.9% APR - ouch! Credit cards offer lower rates!

Sytners also has an M3 CSL in Asbo Orange - you'd be able to test them side by side.

Indeed - it makes you wonder? I'd be as well calling Wonga for a payday loan for it ha ha!

The Asbo m3 has gone they told me. Got good money for it by all accounts.
