Another stunning Alpina launched and what a line up they now have. An interesting statement on this review is:

"In 2013 Alpina enjoyed a record year, selling 1400 cars globally and 300 in Japan. The company, which sold its first car in Japan in 1979, usually only sells 200 in the country each year"

Which remarkable as the entry level models (B3/D3) were not really part of the line up for most this year. 2014 may see a total of 9 models presented if a D4 comes out at Geneva. A B1 would cap a great 10th addition! :D
I know Japan have a storming year as Matt was struggling to get cars as Japan had bought them all !

Stunning car.

Id have to order without the optional sensor unit on the front end just above the splitter. It makes it look buck-toothed.
Former Alpina owner. Having a break.

Re struggling to get cars this must be correct as a forum member has had to wait 8 months for his new wagon which has just been delivered in the last week.

This is an extra option for Active Cruise Control with 'Stop and Go' function which is basically a radar system. The video below gives an insight to this technology.

The front does look a bit 'smashed in the face with the back of a shovel' fussy, especially with the clumsy surface mounted radar.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have one!

I think that the radar unit is fitted anyway and is also used for an alert in the event of you failing to brake fast enough. My Golf certainly has this and the salesman said that this is fitted because its not possible to get 5 stars in NCAP without it now.

Anyone know if all that is true?
