Thanks for the replies. My car has Michelin sports on the front and a seemingly unbranded set on the rear. The previous owner said Sytner had fitted them prior to his purchase! He had only done 10000 miles in his owner ship and there's plenty of life in them but the car does feel slightly nervous at some speeds and I'm sure it's the tyres and not anything else untoward as the car itself has only 29k on it. So looks like a call to Event Tyres is needed

Mine feels really firmly planted, no nervous feeling that you tend to get with BMW's run flats or twitchyness. Friends with the BF Goodrich also feels the same.

If Sytner had chucked some budgets on there firstly i'd be surprised and secondly they'd probably feel uneasy given how much emphasis Alpina and most members on here put in to the tyres.
Nothing to see here.... move along in an orderly fashion please!

I've had new tyres fitted now and the difference is staggering :o
I've had MIchelin Pilot Super Sports all round (rears £258 fitted , fronts £188 fitted) by SETyres. Turns out the fronts had were original as they had the 2006 manufacturing date on them and they had been driven flat at some point! The insides were full of rubber from the inner walls.
Any way I'm sure it must have been discussed before but are there any recommended tyre pressures other than what is stated in the hand book?
Is it right that the fronts have a higher pressure than the rears?

Tyres

Post by A4PNA » Fri Nov 08, 2013 10:45 am

Vredestein ultrac sessanta all the way for me ... they are pretty excellent in the rain, they are well priced too, I drove through a slightly large puddle on the motorway doing 80-90 mph and there was not a hint of aquaplane in sight, not even a twitch...
Must be that tread pattern :)
