Good suggestions, Norrie....and about time you were on here
We can echo a little of what Brett and Charles have said re the BMWCC membership question: the benefits of membership do not justify the cost of membership. We never obtained any parts or service discount during the years we were members by quoting our BMWCC membership (we were using Sytner quite heavily in those days) and the insurance companies attached to the club were vastly uncompetitive. The website doesn't seem to be very focussed, either and always seemed to be out of date. So, that left the magazine (which we generally enjoyed reading) and the discount on Gaydon tickets, which we took advantage of a few times. Hmm, not a lot really. Add to that the fact that the club didn't contact us about anything other than a bit of admin during our membership and it felt rather remote and uninterested except in a few 'special members' around which everything appeared to centre. Oh, they did contact us when we cancelled our membership

Our region is too small (Owners-wise) so we would need 'weighting' for comps! Probably the least-dense concentration of ALPINA's/square mile, although a 'high' local density just here.paulbraden2010 wrote:Now wouldn't that be interesting.........online based PDF magazine, detailing competitions, regional meets with competitions between the regions!

Alpina car club
Interesting proposition, I was looking at Companies house last night and discovered that BMW UK actually own the BMW Car Club Limited, not to be confused with the BMWCCGB Ltd. BMW UK Limited also own the BMW Drivers Club Ltd.
Therefore could it be that BMW UK Limited is protecting it'self against BMWCCGB Limited by being able to dissociate it'self at any time and control it's own members.
Interesting that Alpina Car club UK or GB Limited is not registered at companies house and could be obtained. If anyone is really serious let me know and I will give you costs to set it up, I already have certified chartered accountants in Newark Nottinghamshire and they can organised everything included VAT registration where applicable. There are various ways of doing this an small implications which can make it tax and administrative free.

Re: Alpina car club
I would be intrigued as to what the initial setup costs would be, wonder if a new thread should be started?Norrie wrote:Interesting proposition, I was looking at Companies house last night and discovered that BMW UK actually own the BMW Car Club Limited, not to be confused with the BMWCCGB Ltd. As the majority of owners on here are men, and in WI fashion, I would like to volunteer as a model.paulbraden2010 wrote: Charity Naked Calendar, WI style!

I am sure my rugged good looks, full head of hair (with my wig on at least), 6 pack (once the barrel was removed) would go down a treat on a Calendar.
In fact I could be on both sides of the lens....take some snaps using the self timer.........
I think it would sell well on here...........NOT!!!!
Darn......I see Ade has already volunteered........should have read the rest of the posts before jumping in.

I second you ...fine figure of a man: the physical build of Arnie in his best days, definitely a touch of the George Clooneys, with a splash of Sly Stallone and a Desperate Dan chin. Definitely should drag in 'the ladies' at sale time I'm sure my back-wax should supply you with sufficient toupe top-up if requiredmac wrote:As the majority of owners on here are men, and in WI fashion, I would like to volunteer as a model.

Dear All, the thought of any poor soul being inflicted with a naked shot of my bulky, middle aged, carcass fills me with dread. I could in all honesty not volunteer for that.
