Duly noted , excuse my ignorance, is this cambelt then not chain, if so I'll have this done and waterpump/stat at the same time as a precautionary measure as I don't think anythings guaranteed at the moment, little 'chequered' last 3 years.
Hi Gaz, No they are chain driven, the belts I mentioned were the ones connecting the viscous fan, alternator, water pump etc. BMW provide as a kit. If you need any help, then I have an excellent contact at Sytner Sheffield for parts and service.
Hopefully will see you about, as I am only the other side of the A1 at J37, perhaps a small gathering in the Barnsley/Doncaster/Sheffield area may now be possible??????
Look forward to seeing the B10 out and about!
Regards
Paul

Hi Gaz
How are things coming along, I saw the thread about the gearbox, but I always think that once its done, you are always going to have a sorted car!
Look forward to seeing it soon.
Cheers

Hey Paul, after the recent sit down shock of the gearbox expense it's back with my local mender for fine tooth detail and MOT, he's a good guy who's looked after me for around six years with various vehicles and understands my concerns with preserving the provenance and in his words "semi-exoticness" of the vehicle, I was reassured to drop in unanounced on Friday evening and find it sitting there with plastic seat and steering wheel cover on in readiness.paulbraden2010 wrote:Hi Gaz

Looking forward to (hopefully) getting it back next weekend with a full ticket for me to finally give it a first drive, a few weeks of acclimatisation and pleasure before getting it seriously fettled into good form over winter with wheels, paintwork and leather needing work. I've also been onto Simon for some new striping decals, so barring disaster all looking good albeit with another couple of K to spend I suspect (in too deep now )which puts the car into the top end pricewise, but a beauty saved in the nick of time I feel.
Looking forward to a local(ish) meet up with a few of us Yorkshire/Lincolnshire folks, thanks for the interest.

I know what you mean about getting in too deep, but if you consider over how long you are likely to keep the car, then it probably works out at running something a like a new golf!
Can't wait to get mine back from Sytner's and then give the paintwork a detail. Ready for stripping. hopefully very soon!
I will be looking at getting some of the leather sorted on the inside of mine, so will have a chat further about options nearer the time.
And yes a local meet would be quite a nice event!.
