Auto Fold mirrors

Post by ollieebmw » Tue Aug 28, 2012 10:05 pm

Greetings

Having done a bit of reading on electric mirrors I may now take the plunge. Looking at getting replica M5 auto fold electric door mirrors. Seen them at http://www.kudosbmw.co.uk/proddetail.as ... %20cat=117
You can also get them from e-bay. Apparently you also need to get a new driver side switch panel (mine mirrors are manual) and a passenger switch module ( I Think ) and a pair of electric mirrors. Has anyone else done this?
Also looking to get them to fold in when you lock the car and fold out when you open the car. I think it needs to be coded to the Key.
Any advice would be appreciated...Cheers gang

Greetings

I already have welcome lights which turns the interior lights and headlamp rings on the car when you unlock then they fade out and indicators on when you lock the car. Love the idea of the welcome message. What does yours say? Mine would be a message to the misses saying "Mind the rims". Already got auto closure by holding down the lock button on the remote. Does windows and doors. The same with unlock. Might be getting the auto lock to doors when you go over 5mph so will see if they can auto open locks when key removed. He was not sure whether I would have this function. Definitely need the auto fold in on mirrors when you lock the car and come out on unlock. Will see if they can code it in otherwise I may have to get one of these modules. How much were they? Did you wire it in to the CD changer as advised? Pics would be helpful if possible. Thanks for the info.

That module looks quite interesting - amazing what's out there for a 10 year old car but strange he doesn't have a price on the website.

I think holding the button down to close the windows is rubbish so it's almost worth paying for a module that does it automatically just for that.

I'll email him and see what he comes back with - well done E24man, could be just what I didn't know I needed!
