I'm stunned, I was expecting possibly low 20's from some of the owners.
I think I'm very happy now with the B3, any dreams of owning a B5 are totally dashed.
Wise decision to ask the forum Vincent.

Are B5s all lead lined or is this all speculation?
The B7s long term average is nearly 22mpg. I'll be nearly 30 on a gentle motorway jaunt and 17 around town.
Drive it like you stole it and you'll get what you deserve.
It's not a V10 M5!
I should add, 75% of my journeys are less than 3 miles.

I used to get around 18 mpg on my B5 and that was driving it quite hard. Currently get around the same in the B6. That would be based upon mainly "Fun" back roads. Never really done an urban run in rush hour - what's the point!! The problem really is the fuel tank - it really is too small! Don't know what you could get on a long run at a moderate speed -never done that!

No Alpina just now sold the Silver B5 Touring and bought Two X3 3.5D
One Silver and One Grey with a loads of toys in spec
Not really helping with this but, the recent Twitter feed from Matt Stripling showed his trip from Nottm to London as 39.6 mpg av, in the new D5, and that's door to door not just the motorway section.
Said it wouldn't help
