F30 D3 Euro 6 Compliance

Post by IronNeverLies » Mon Jun 29, 2020 11:30 am

Morning all, first time poster - long time lurker. Could anyone clarify whether the D3 is Euro 6 compliant from experience of driving in the ULEZ? I ask because the TFL system doesn't say it is but the paper work (online) says it is. Thoughts?

If I put my 64 plate D3 details in to the ULEZ tool, it comes back as no ULEZ charge. I believe all F3* D3's are ULEZ compliant. For the early ones, you may need to send/e-mail a copy the V5 in to TfL to confirm.

So the V5 confirms it is Euro Code 6? I have just checked the reg of the car I'm interested in on TFLs checker. It says the car is subject to the 12.50 a day charge and will need to be registered with TFL and provide the following to be exempt -

Documents you need for proof
All vehicles:
A copy of the vehicle's V5C or non-UK equivalent
Plus

To prove your vehicle meets the ULEZ standards:
A letter from the vehicle manufacturer's homologation department stating the vehicle's Euro standard or a conformity certificate

Is there a conformity certificate in the core Alpina documentation?

The Emissions are not stated on the V5 for the Alpina. Certainly on neither of my D3's. If the car isn't coming up on the TfL system, or is flagging as being non-ULEZ compliant, then perhaps a call to them might resolve it.

I believe that the F30 is 139G/km and the F31 is 142G/km.

Interesting.

Just checked again and neither is now ULEZ compliant where they were before. Guess I'll be registering my car and getting conformity documentation from Alpina and sorting that out. Not that I really need it, as I rarely travel to London by car.

See page 7 of the official Alpina documentation.

Does that help?

I'm not sure if TFL would except a marketing document from reading other peoples posts on older Alpinas. If you want to be a guinea pig i would be thankful

Just to update you all on this. I made the call to Gary Lott and he requested the CoC from Alpina for my January 2015 F31 D3. I've received that document today and can confirm that the exhaust emission level on the document states Euro 6. I'll need to provide this document, or a copy of it, to the TfL guys in order to negate the ULEZ charge that my number plate currently states I need to pay.

If you do need to drive your D3 daily into London or within the ULEZ zone, then I'd recommend getting a CoC from Sytner. It'll save you a considerable amount of money in the long run.

Thanks Matt this is really helpful! I've been worried about ULEZ as I'm currently on the hunt for a F3x D3.

Cheers

FYI, I have an F32 D4 and before requested CoC from Gary. Yesterday confirmed euro6, awaiting the documents to come through. BMW build date for mine is December 2014 so can’t see it having an issue.

Resurrecting this one as I've had an interesting time with the Birmingham Clean Air Zone (CAZ) people.

Previously, I've submitted docs to TfL and confirmed that my pre-LCI D3 is ULEZ compliant. The ULEZ/CAZ website updated and showed my car exempt in all CAZ's, apart from Birmingham. I therefore went through the same process of uploading the docs to the Birmingham CAZ page and they agreed, so will exempt my D3.

Now, the interesing bit is that F3* D3/D4 owners have said that they emissions category, Euro 6, is not on their V5's. Mine isn't either. The Birmingham CAZ people have apparently updated the details with the DVLA and have told me to expect a new V5 with 'Euro 6' stated on it.

Bottom line is that if you have a pre-LCI F3* D3/D4 and need/want to travel to a ULEZ/CAZ area, you are exempt from the charge, provided you register the car first and can prove it's Euro 6 via the Certificate of Conformity.

Quick check on the Government website(s) for ULEZ and CAZ confirms my D3 is exempt from all charges. New V5 arrived in the post today, stating ‘Euro 6’ on it. Happy days.
