The place to talk about ALPINAs.
e.g. News, Reviews, Insurance, Warranties, Running Costs, Sightings, general questions etc.

Form or Function?

Post by Grumpyjohn1957 » Sat Apr 17, 2021 9:38 pm

2hrs washing car. 30 mins of car, one and a half on wheels.

Got to thinking about the front spoiler/splitter/air dam whilst repeatedly trapping fingers in all the spokes.
The G30/31 design appears visually identical to that of Alpinas of yore.

Now whilst I appreciate the heritage, visual cue, trademark aspect etc behind the styling, has it been wind tunnel tested?
I presume it has, but if so, is it optimally engineered and aerodynamically sculptured for high-speed performance or just stuck on?

Not that I would even contemplate this; what would happen if it were removed?
