Wanted e46 B3 Convertible

Post by Oneball » Mon Apr 24, 2023 11:43 am

Hi all, I'm back!

Five-ish years and a selection of cars later I really regret selling my B3s 3.4 Vert. viewtopic.php?f=56&t=22006

So I'm back looking for another, not too fussed as to 3.3 or 3.4 but must be really clean.

If you're thinking of selling yours ping me a message.

welcome back OP. Lovely B3S on estoril! Must say I am biased towards Alpinas with different paint schemes!
Not personally aware of clean examples...this one didn't take too long to go and would say is the cleanest one Ive seen in the past few years. - https://www.kgfclassiccars.co.uk/vehicles/28414/

What's your budget?

I’d like to pay as little as possible

I think £10-15k is the right sort of ballpark. I don’t want a really low mileage one as I will use it. My last B3 was supposedly a weekend car but I used it for pretty much everything short of towing.

There’s 4 blue cars on Autotrader at the moment although I think the cheap estoril 3.3 looks unloved.

Nice one Oneball. Its good to know what you are willing to spend. I think with the age of these cars now, budget needs to be set aside for ongoing maintenance - for the price point I would certainly leave a couple of K for suspension, head gasket, gearbox etc etc, one or more usually needs to be done! Not a lot of info about the 3.3 estoril currently on AT. I thought the panels and bumpers look straight from the pics. The interior could obvs do with a refresh but thats pretty normal for these interiors...It does look tiered but be interesting to know if any mechanicals have been looked after outside the normal oil changes etc.

Quite willing to sort mechanical stuff just don’t want to have to cosmeticly restore something that’s not been looked after. Not sure I want another Estoril blue car though. I’ve got one already!

I was looking at stats and it said mpg for the 3.3 is 20mpg. That can’t be right can it? I used to get 24mpg out of my 3.4.

These are the two I want to look at when I’m able.

3.3 no 188 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... DH&fromsra

3.3 no 209 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... DH&fromsra

I reckon both have been on sale since last summer looking at the dates on the radios.

I did see that. The black interior puts me off though.

personal opinion of course....When it comes to older Alpina's I become less fussed about the colour scheme combo (as choice is limted) and more interested about how the cars been looked after. Thats probably why I drive a purple one :D

I’m not too picky with most trim options but I’m really not a fan of black interiors unless there’s a really good reason.

I’m not quite in a position to buy yet either as I need to sell a race car to make room.
