D3 Touring - with Pan sunroof

Post by Hedge » Mon Apr 02, 2018 9:22 am

I've a 320d M Sport that I love in many respects, not least the way it handles. But........... I've always hankered for the Alpina variant. Problem is, I love cars with sunroofs (the panoramic one on the Beemer is ace).

A D3 with one of these would be a keeper. Do such cars exist though? I've been looking for months - actually, years - but without joy; now I'm beginning to wonder if there is such a car out there.

Beginning to lose patience &, instead, just get a 330d M Sport with a SR. There's little mine needs other than more power & a more sonorous engine note (it's a whiny old thing).

Thoughts? I've spotted a decent 330d, that's all...

Thanks in advance,

No, not looking to drop that sort of money on it - but much prefer the older version anyway.

There's two on PH at the mo but, as per, no sunroof..

I do hope so but it literally has been years, now. I've had the 320 for six years now & only got that cos I couldn't find a similarly spec'd D3.

Given there were so few MT D3 Tourers ever supplied in the UK (73, including saloons?) I do wonder whether any of them were actually ordered with a sunroof, to be honest. As you say, it was an expensive option in the first place, so...

A call to Sytner might be in order.

Cheers,

The problem you will face is the UK D3 on the previous 3 (E9*) platform were built to a basic spec to make them cost effective. Try finding one with full leather or xenon lights let alone with a sunroof.

Extras on the D3 cost an "upgrade" premium plus the cost of the extra, hence most cars are just standard spec cars with half leather, halogen lamps, no sunroof or heated seats etc.

You maybe better off waiting a bit longer for the current model to drop in value - these F3* variants are much more in line with Alpina high end equipment and Tourings have often been spec'd with pano roof.

Another more extreme option is to buy a European spec car - if you can live with LHD, as they are much higher spec than UK cars on the whole.

Or as you say, land a E91 330d - still a very fine car if not an Alpina.

More likely a d3 biturbo may come up with the pan roof

I'll prob do this. And wait for the F variant to drop a wee bit.

Thank you.

Blooming is a rare option on early d3!
Only one I can see is #190 but where that is I have not a clue
