Disc size? D3 2008

Post by anthonyjakes » Mon Feb 05, 2024 4:40 pm

I am looking at upgrading brakes all round to EBC, but I am getting different disc size options, does anyone know the correct disc dimensions for front and rear discs or what BMW model to match too.
Thanks in advance

There’s quite a few topics with this information for the E9X D3 (I assume you have the D3 Biturbo), also the Alpina parts catalogues have them:

You must have one of the last D3 models if it is registered as a 2008, unless it is a Touring.

The advice is still in the Alpina parts manual for the D3, page 2:

“Only Alpina parts and not clear perceptible BMW parts which are different to the base car are listed. For BMW parts the BMW parts catalogue has to be used”.

About half way down page 2 the catalogue shows the equivalent BMW models: D3 03/2005 to 12/2007 use the 320d E90 saloon equivalents. D3 Touring 09/2005 to 02/2008 use the 320d E91 Touring equivalents.

Unless Alpina’s catalogue is wrong you need to put the original BMW VIN into realoem.com and it should bring up the 320d it was based on and give you the disc sizes for the production month and year. But there were a couple of sizes for the later 320d, eg. 312 or 330 mm diameter for fronts, so to be sure it would be wise to measure yours.

As John says, 320d parts. I changed a set of brakes on a '08 plate D3, and all parts are standard 320d. The size of the discs is stamped into them along with the minimum allowable thickness, usually on the rim....if it's legible under the crust of rust. From memory I'd not like to say which size they are

Thanks for the feedback, I got the rims being refurbed next week, whilst the wheels are off Il measure the discs sizes then, best to be 100% sure

The most widely fitted 320d discs appear to be fronts 312 x 24mm vented, rear 330 x 20 vented.
