Alpina wheels - centre caps rattling.....

Post by Rav » Tue Nov 21, 2023 4:34 pm

Please can you help. The centre caps on my car come loose after a while of driving and I am worried that I will loose them.
What is the method of ensuring that these stay tight and cannot rattle?

Hi chap, you can bend the tab on the back a bit to make more snug and then cut some small squares of door insulation foam strip and stick on the back around the edge. You can get the foam on strip rolls about 1cm wide on Amazon or eBay for a couple of quid. It's basically the same stuff as Alpina sell for the purpose but cheaper as not already cut into 1cm squares!

As Jules says, adjust the L shaped lug on the back of the cap to tighten the fit - that's what it's there for and what Alpina will tell you to do.

The foam pads are there to prevent paint on paint contact, once the cap is fitted tightly.

Each cap/wheel combination will be slightly different, so make sure you marry up the correct pairing in future.
