Lost my production plate

Post by JohnW » Sat Jul 16, 2022 7:25 pm

This must have happened in the heat, I’ve asked Cotswold to quote for another, it’s a 2008 E92.

Anyone any ideas if they are still available and the costs?

It’s part 7600345 Miffed is not quite the word! :(

They were definitely available earlier this year, Barry got one for his B3 3.3 Coupe.

Like hap, I would expect it’s still in your car somewhere. Maybe if you had a Cabrio it could’ve gone walkabout but seems less likely in a Coupe

I’ve looked everywhere.

Taken the front seats out completely, inside the thigh supports, rear bench swabs, all the centre console trim. I’ve also looked under the edges of the carpets and around the garage, even inside jackets and pockets I’ve worn lately.

It must have landed on me while I was going to or from work and fallen off my lap on site or office car park.

We’ll see, I’ve also emailed the polish guy on eBay who engraves copies which are pretty spot on for £22.50, but he’s away and I can’t see me getting anything else but original.

Not sure where these are located on your car and this may seem unlikely but have you tried at the bottom of the windscreen; ie where demister air comes out?

I think he won’t be able to replicate the gold Alpina to rondel as older ones had the shield

It’s directly above the central armrest, idrive controller and handbrake gaiter area, I dropped a few bits to replicate the fall, so if it dropped likely to stick to the side seat bolster or down the gap between the front seat and centre console. We’ve checked everything again even the works laptop rucksack I had behind the drivers seat in the rear footwell.

Looks like I’m scouting the office car park Monday now as a last resort.

If it appears on eBay it’s unique, number 161, but I don’t think I’ve left it unlocked at any point.

I could fix the badge from the Alpina document folder to one of the replicas or live with a flat badge, looks like the same size, but then it would spoil the wallet.

Any ideas what to stick it back with, it looks like the double-sided 3M tape originally?

I’ve some of the 3M VHB tape, black silicone, contact adhesive and superglue.

What a result! Great that not only was it found, but the person realised what it was and to whom it might belong.
