Z4 roadster oil leak

Post by dkatwa » Sat Apr 16, 2022 1:22 pm

Hi. I have a roadster s with 35k miles, 2004. Car got an advisory last week during the MOT. Front oil leak but not excessive. For those who have had a similar issue what do you think is the issue and who would you recommend to diagnose and fix. I live in Harrow.
Car will be for sale thereafter.
Thanks
Deepak

Without cleaning the oil residue and monitoring to identify the source, it is hard to say for certain.

I had a small oil leak from the valve cover gasket on my B3s (same engine as RS) - they harden/crack with age.

Thanks.. Where did you get the work done? I presume it's a common issue for this engine...
Cheers

I did it myself (am a engineer... :) ) - it's simple enough to do with the right tools. There are a number of good videos about (50skid on youtube is excellent)

It's certainly common for BMWs of this era but whether it's common on the B3s, I couldn't say but others will know.

Hope that helps,

If we are talking about the rocker cover gasket then this does leak over time. If yours is the original 18 year old gasket then I wouldn't be surprised if it has gone and needs replacing
