Using coolant

Post by Tonyfraser » Fri Jun 11, 2021 12:19 am

Hi guys. I have a D3 Bi turbo on an 58 plate. I’m using a lot of coolant. About a litre a week. I can’t find any physical leaks and it’s not overheating. Are there any known issues with head gasket going and not pressurising the system? No water in the oil and no carbon smells in the expansion tank. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tony, you may EGR issues, if yours hasn't been changed by BMW recall. Suggest you check that out as a possible answer

Thanks for that. I’ll have a look into it. I have had a dpf removal and recode. Plus the egr was capped off. Could be the issue. Cheers.

I know it's been a while but did you fix this?

I have a 2009 D3 BT and had coolant issues, now fixed so might be able to share some ideas if its still going on.

Cheers Mark.
