E90/E92 B3 BiTurbo Spark Plugs

Post by JohnW » Mon Sep 07, 2020 8:56 pm

I haven’t got an owners manual or a copy.

Would anyone please confirm the recommended plugs for my B3 BiTurbo. Are they the same for a standard N54 engined BMW 335i?

I know the preferred make are NGK.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, that’s great.

The 335i NGK plug I think is BKR6EQUP

Not sure if there are any other preferences for long life?

My Supplementary Owners Handbook states, on page 29, under Engine Type K2, Bosch ZGR6STE2.
It makes no mention of NGK.
B3 BiTurbo Cabrio #121 (E93) + Quaife ATB LSD
X1 2.0 Twin-Scroll Turbo xDrive #zillion (F48) ... really useful, if only an XB1 existed !

Slight thread drift, does anyone know the difference between engine types K2 and K3?

B3, K2 = 360 hp, B3 S K3 = 400 bhp. Other airbox, no auxillary cats, bit more torque. Both based on N54

Superb thanks both.

Interesting that my B3 GT3 handbook says K3 rather than K3/1

Fundamentally your engine's internals are the same as a B3S BiTurbo, there were changes to the cooling system/intake and the fancier exhaust was the thing generating the extra 8PS over a standard car. I think the missing "/1" was probably laziness as much as anything. Similarly, the E34 B10 3.5 should technically be the B10 3.5/1 although very few people use that full title.
