Four new ones fitted and no leaks.
Pleased to hear it.
It isn't a difficult job but you just have to approach it with care and work on a "less is more" principle when unscrewing/screwing in the valve bodies

Useful thread - thanks to all contributors.
Does anyone have the size of the O-ring between the valve body and its seat in the wheel?
One of mine does this! And as I don't own a set of suitably long/slim/6-point sockets
yet I can't take it apart and look myself.

The wheels have been refurbed without stripping off the coat below, which is probably part of the problem, so I'm expecting some hassle in both removing the valve body and getting the seat in a suitable condition to make an effective seal.

I've just found a post from 2012 saying 8mm x 2mm, so will give them a go.

Ah the delights of BSP threads. 1/8 BSP is considerably larger than 1/8 BSW Typically:
1/8 BSW OD: 0.125" Pitch 0.025" (40 TPI) Effective dia 0.109"
1/8 BSP OD:0.383" Pitch 0.035"(28 TPI) Effective dia 0.360" Designed for 1/8 schedule 40 pipe
If you have the valves measure the OD and pitch Hopefully if will align with the BSP

HI itsdasy, is there an acceptable metric alternative, perhaps M10? Made the same mistake and ordered a BSW 1/8, what a waste of time. Robert

Hi, there really is not metric alternative in practice. The M10 thread OD is larger at 0.393 inch (theoretical peak), plus the pitch would be all wrong, M10 coarse (standard) is a 1.5mm pitch ( 16.9 TPI) even fine pitch M10 x 1.0 would be too coarse (25.4 TPI). In reality not worth the risk unless the matching valves are available.

Great thread. Noticed a dodgy inner core recently, it leaks when moved around or sometimes when I open the valve screw cap (Nice design with a rubber inside and seems to keep the air in! any ideas on part number? or Part number for 18 softlines on an e46.
Recent tyre place you will need to change the whole valve... Can I get away with changing just the core? And any recommendations on where to get these changed.

The core is exactly the same as any rubber valve - it screws in and out the same way but you need a clever little
tool. It sounds like yours might have just worked slightly loose within the valve body, so I would try tightening it up first.
If this doesn't fix it then any tyre place should be able to replace the core in a matter of seconds.

Thanks Charles. Went to check again, on inspection and comparison to an ok valve. The valve pin moves around quite freely and that's because there is no bar across it where the clever tool would slot in to allow for tightening.

Looked at mine - both on the wheels and the spares - and all the cores have a bar across them.
I would change the rogue one before worrying about whether the valve body is leaking air.
