19" Dynamic Alloys

Post by Charles B » Tue Aug 22, 2006 3:54 pm

Hi everyone i would like to change the original Clasic alloys on my cab. I would really like to stay gen Alpina so was thinking along the line of some 19" dynamic wheels. Does anyone know of a set for sale or where i could get new at a good price. Also if i didnt go Alpina and went say Ac , breyton route etc would that in everyones opinion detract from the car.Have also seen a set of M6 rims that look good.
All opinions both for and objective would be good to assist with the choice.
Thanks All

Chaz,

Are you looking to change them because:

1 You want larger wheels?
2 You want a different design of wheel?
3 Both?

IMHO ALPINA's look best wih ALPINA wheels - there's something completely timeless and elegant about the Classic design. The only ALPINA's that I think look good with Dynamic designs are the Roadsters and the B6 Cab.

Hi Chaz,
I have to agree with Hap & charles on this one. Is it a different look that you are after or do you have money burning a hole in your pocket at the moment lol. The only reason i say that is that i think that the wheels that you have are the best looking wheel on the B3 by far :D I know there are lots of really nice wheels out there but i dont think they would suit the alpina  I did have an E36 with the brayton magic racing rims on and they were so nice. Just suited the car, but yours is an Alpina and special.

If you do sell them though throw them this way :D

If you have got a bit of cash to spend on her i would look into supercharging the car with an ASA charger. I belive that Alpina are working with ASA at the moment anyway and do aprove there kit :D

Charles...

NO NO NO NO NO!!!

i'm glad you waited to voice this desire on the net, rather than in person at Gaydon on Sunday - I would've had to beat you senseless with a metal cosh!

IMO you can't change the wheels on an ALPINA away from either of the 2 ALPINA wheel designs... it would be sacrilidge..

there's a B3 in this months BMW Car Mag which was at Donington last year (Estoril Blue) and has the 18" Dynamics which I think are ok.. but I'd prefer the Classic 11's you've already got.

Thankyou everyone for your kind and not so kind words of advice. This is one of the reasons for the post to get the views of people who care about others cars as much as their own.I have got the message loud and clear. Guess i have had the car a couple of years and was looking for a change as i carnt find a newer one that is as good looking. The wheels were looking pitted which was another reason for my thoughts. I did have another thought but dont know if i dare voice it now......... Well go on then i was thinking about colour coding the spokes and leaving the lip and rim either diamond cut with a clearcoat or the original finish. The colour would be matched to the Velvet blue of the car. What does anyone think of that. I'll start pulling on the flack jaket now shall I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers fellow ALpina lovers.

do you really want me to answer that Mr B....

I know what you mean about trying to make changes to the car so you keep it fresh and in the end it's your car to do with as you please.. just don't think that ALPINA's are the best base for modding.. for that you should base on either and M3 or std E46 - IMO the ALPINA's are already rare and individual enough...

Hi Chaz,
I do agree with Sunnyville. If you want to burn money in your pocket, just follow his advice and tell me the modification afterwards. I am thinking about that as well after I heard the next B3 will have 380bhp is coming at the end of 2007 in Gaydon.

Hey Andy should we go to Buchloe to check this out and have a run in the ring as well, If I want to do the modification, I like to take my car back to Buchloe and seek their advice and how much would that be?

James

Hi Chaz,
It looks like the general concensus is to stick with Alpina. You could try the dynamic wheels to see what they look like. I have altered your pictures a little and just spent 5mins doing a very quick alteration so that you can get an idea of what they would look like with the blue centres or the dynamic wheels. If i had more time to spend on it you would think they were actually on the car :D

If you have a better pic and I have some time I can do exactly what you have in mind before you spend a penny :D
Must say i do quite like the dynamics on there. I think the only reason things look odd is it is not the norm and your mind automatically says it is wrong. Give it time though to let yourself decide.

Good one Kev - didn't know you where a Photoshop wizard ;)

I think the Dynamics look pretty good actually. :) Going back to my previous post, perhaps here is a reason for this. The dynamics appear to suit an open-topped car - something to do with the overall lines and sporty feel maybe?

As for the colour coded ones - well, as Andy said, it's your car.......

Kev what a star. Thanks for the looks that certainly lets me know what i am in for. I personally think the dynamics would freshen the car and as Charles says look good. The colour coded centers were a little lighter than the car but dont look as good as i thought they would. Now supercharger has enyone got anymore info on the connection with Alpina. Oh and just to clear up i dont have money burning my pocket just like to keep thing fresh and as all the newer Cars are all boring colours and leather combos ( no offence to anyone else's combo ) guess i have a little desire to move on slightly from what i have already achieved. But thanks to everyone who has passed comment they have all been taken on board and are really welcomed Cheers Guys.

get some if u want them, just don't sell the originals for resale time/change of mind.

i do this with all of mine, so when i sell i'll put it back to standard and everyone is happy then!
