Hi All
I'm new to this forum but i hope it will be useful to me as i am starting to restore a c2 1986
the car has a problem with the steering which becomes heavy after a few minutes driving and it get to a stage were your fighting with it to turn and to stop it pulling to the left also.
I have noticed the lpassenger side strut is different to the right (as it has a abs sensor mount i think thats what it is anyway)
i understand the top mount on c2's were offset from the standard one whould this be the issue and if so where would i get the correct piece?
Regards
Keego
c2 steering problem (moved)
Some pictures might help shed some light. but does the car have power steering or a manual rack? there are quite a few things that can go wrong in this area.
i'm guessing u have a power steering rack and it's shagged, plus the fluid probably hasn't been changed in 100 years. Does it grind at all when turning the s/wheel? Best solution to this is a good second hand rack there are plenty about and are not too bad a job to change, i'd
pulling to the left could well be odd top mounts if one is an offset one but most likely a tracking isssue

Hi keego,
I take it you dont use the car to drive around in if you are restoring it? As simon13 has said it can be caused by a number of things.
I would get the car up on stands at the front and check the rack, ball joints, steering columbn joints and suspension top mounts.
Have you had all the suspension of the car and just put it back on?? I have known the track rod ends to be put back on upside down before now on other cars
The best thing to do is to work through things systematically and eliminate things.
I hope you find out the issue quickly so that you can sort it.
