2007 MT D3 - Rear Coil Springs

I understand the OEM ref for above is: 33536767345

Interested in an aftermarket option e.g. Lesjofors item number 4208471
www.autodoc.co.uk list a pair @ £52.66 each (rrp £81.01)
I have successfully bought aftermarket front coil springs from autodoc (31336767377) - Must of been cheaper than like for like genuine parts.
I was less successful with front brakes hoses from autodoc so am now unsure regarding this distributor.
Lesjofors don't seem to take orders from the public and provided details of their distributor GSF.
GSF said, Lesjofors do not make coil Springs for my vehicle! - This doesn't fill me wiih confidence!

So., as cost is no object, should I simply buy genuine BMW replacement parts?
Online BMW shop quotes £149.00 each. Unsure if VAT applied.
BMR Performance quote all in @ £309.41 (VAT and delivery @ £9.10 included)
The latter allows me to receive Coil springs and choose an independent garage for fitment. Delivery is 3-4 days from DE to BMR.

I would expect aftermarket parts to cost much the same as genuine parts. maybe am wrong?

Thoughts please.... Do I just plump for genuine Coil Springs from BMR?

...genuine parts is the way forward I feel.

Ordered direct from BMW with 10% off @ £268.20. Happy with that.

GSF will only go from their database of cars and parts that they have compiled and know that they fit, which is sadly very sparse for Alpina, ECP is similar. I have found lots of service items that fit (same as the 335i for mine), yet GSF and ECP state they won’t fit my B3.

You can do your own research and order what is likely to be correct, to find that it’s not quite right or it pays off.

Also someone on here recently ordered springs from a BMW dealer to find they were different. But at least you can take them back if they’re not correct and they will persist to find the correct pair.

The price looks OK too.

The Alpina parts catalogues are on here and we have the BMW parts catalogues (realOEM etc), but it would be good to also have the springs tables too, they seem to be very elusive.

Thanks John. All makes sense regarding GSF and similar, such as ECP.
..and yep, sometimes (frustratingly), it can be a lottery despite doing the necessary research.
Bit worrying re BMW though, having said that, dealer experiences (like anything/anybody else) are not full-proof.
I have so much detail regarding the D3 and well aware regarding spring table with integral info missing.
Trying to prevent a probable spring collapse as was the case with a front coil spring.
Quite sure the rears are those from new!!

I replaced my shocks and springs over the past year or so after a pot hole made a mess of my front tyres after the spring collapsed and started digging into the tyre.

When I did my research at the time I discovered that Sachs was the OEM manufacturer for BMW. I was advised by someone on Owners Group on Facebook that when he installed Sachs springs they sat quite high and never really settled to an acceptable level. He recommended Eibach springs and to be fair they sit prefect on my car with the Sachs dampers.

Did you replace all 4 shocks and springs or just the fronts?

Eitherway, can you confirm what the Eibach part numbers were?

hey all,

I've just done a suspension overhaul on my 2009 D3 BT. So I now have a set of original Springs that are in good condition but I don't need. I have been told they will also fit the D3 MT the rears are the same but the front will lower the car slightly (Which may or may not be a preference)
If anyone who has an Alpina wants them I'll sell the set for £60.
