B10 V8 dials not ALPINA?
B10 V8 dials not ALPINA?
I am looking at a '97 B10 V8, the dials look like the standard BMW dials, e.g. white needles on black background, speedo graduated up to 155 (last number is 140), economy meter under the tacho etc. Is this right, did these not all come with the Alpina 200mph speedo etc? I guess they might have had the problem with missing digits and replaced the original with a (cheaper) BMW unit? If so am I correct thinking it would cost around £1,000 to replace with an Alpina unit?
Sounds like a standard BMW dashboard replacement - but I am not an expert on what Alpina fitted originally in the 97 B10 V8 (can only speak from my experience with my B3S).
From what I can glean from other similar posts, Alpina dashboards have always been very distinct - blue background and Alpina logo on it, with speedo rising to a higher top end.
The price you mention sounds about right also (again drawn from previous posts)
Hope that this helps

No.
How can I check does the car match the Alpina No.?
By original BMW VIN I can find:
type of motor, year of production, region of production, etc...
Can I do it with Alpina No.?
or do I have to use original BMW VIN number?
Many thanks!

See the post regarding "Scratched Out VIN".
However, the simple answer is that the BMW VIN tells you about the original donor car and the Alpina VIN tells you about the Alpina specification.
Hope that this helps

CLOCKS
I have 2 mags with Alpina B10 V8 tests dated 1997 purchased on EBay and both cars have clocks up to 155 only, and the reporter clearly points this out, as the cars top speed was greater. my b10 2001 has the 200mph Blue dials.
my 1997 B10 V8 #240 has the blue 200 mph clocks so i think only early numbered cars did'nt as all the cars with 155mph clocks i've seen have had a production number less than 100 but not positive. were they an extra ?

I do want blue ones but £1000+ is a lot to spend.
