E39 B10 3.3 advice

Post by Speedbird59 » Thu Oct 29, 2020 8:36 pm

Hi all

Looking for some advice please.

I have seen a red 2001 E39 B10 3.3 for sale with 140k miles for just under £13k.

My question is that is this a tad overpriced? I currently have a lovely 2010 E64 630i and am contemplating swapping out the E64 for something a little special. Granted that the B10 is a lot older than my car and probably I would have to add some cash should I go for the B10.

I know the B10 has been for sale for ever and was even discussed on here before...

Look forward to your advice.

Thanks

I'm sure someone with more experience with the 3.3 will be able to offer some words of wisdom but £13k for a B10 with 140k miles is pretty steep in my book.

Agree with Barry, sounds overpriced, unless it's mint?

Personally, I would say it was a lot overpriced, which is attested by the length of time it has remained for sale (since at least Jul-17 across 3 dealers)

By way of example, a couple of recently auctioned B10's:

B10 3.3 [E39 LCI] #198; 354 - Titanium Silver/N6SW - Black Montana Leather; 2002_02; £7.0k; 142k; Auction; Removed Sep-20

B10 V8/1 [E39 LCI] #067; Japan Red/Anthracite Buffalo w Red Piping Leather; 2001_Y; £6.9k; 166k; Auction; Removed Aug-20

I would also consider how long it has been standing on the various forecourts and probably factor in some service/maintenance work that will be overdue if pressed into regular use.

I also think it is bit overpriced even if I have an interest in B10 values going up. CeasarBob's post is probably closer to the mark for that mileage but condition is everything and viewing essential. You could end up with £13k after any necessary work is factored in.
