XD3 - models and any issues

Post by Frosty » Mon Feb 24, 2020 11:00 am

Hi all,

Considering either a D5 Touring (F11) or one of the XD3's as a next car. I can see there are 2 D5's on the market at the moment, one with some issues and higher mileage and a lower mileage version with Sytners.

For the XD3's there are a few appearing at the moment from a 2014 model (which I guess may be from the first version) and some later variants at different Sytner dealerships.

My question is are there any common problems or issues with these same/similar engined cars that I would need to be aware of?

In general any other known issues for either model, if I am looking at the older 2nd hand versions?

Last Q, other than looking at the brakes on the XD3 are there any other material spec changes from early to current models?

Thanks in advance for any help/guidance.

Regards

Paul

Couple of images to show the main visual difference between pre & post-LCI. Wider headlights and re-styled bumper/splitter.

CaesarBob,

Many thanks again.

So the new brakes came in on the current version along with some other exterior and interior changes.

Not sure I follow your question about the brakes.

Doesn't look like there was any change between the pre & post LCI F25's and the G01's similarly use the base vehicle spec brakes.

However, I have seen G01's with a High Performance Brake Option for example:
XD3 BITURBO [G01 RHD] #121 Carbon Black/Fiona Red Merino Leather; 2020_69; £69.5k; 0k; Trade

Must’ve been an option then but it isn’t listed as an option on the price list I’ve seen.

This is the latest model so may be standard on this, as I am sure the list prices have gone up since that launch to cover;-)

My mistake, I thought it was an F25. Yes, the G01 has the HPBS as an option.

Maybe the wrong section, but would retrofitting a towbar be a normal BMW dealer issue or Sytners?

Been quoted in excess of £2k on an XD3!!

Theoretically BMW dealer, but the exhaust system/bumper/splitter arrangements may well complicate it. e.g. the F11 D5 loses it's rear diffuser when a towbar was spec'd from new.

Ahh that would be an understandable issue then for the high cost. May need to rethink bike transport options

Thanks again

Looks like Sytner's have moved on 3 XD's or they have just dropped off their site.

I doubt they’ve sold all of them, probably at least a couple will reappear.
