D4 from petrol? Anyone know #042

Post by Chillnflow » Fri May 10, 2019 1:39 pm

Hi all

Thinking of a D4 but am a real petrol head and the sound is one of my main likes!

I hear the D4 sounds good for a D but will I got the same enjoyment?
Going to try one, so should find out, would just be interested to hear anyones experiences moving from straight 6 petrol goodness to the dark side?

Also anyone know D4 #042?

Many thanks

Hi few owners on here will poSt but it’s a very fast car with good mpg to boot it’s a nice sound considering but not heard in the car

This car has been for sale a while it started just over 30k Rd a nice combination with red leather
Let us know how test drive goes
Ceaser bob will have more info on how long it’s been up for sale

Thank you hap

Looking forward to trying it...not sure if it’s a good time to get into D?!

It does seem to have been for sale for ages..I wonder what’s up with that..alarm bells??

Actually been looking getting quotes for extended warranty ...maybe that’s why...they want a lot!

Will still be trying it ...can’t get away from how amazing/special/rare these are ..would love be custodian of one for a while. A ‘B’ version would be first choice but even rarer!!

Would be great to here what petrol heads think of them..

F32 D4 BiTurbo #042

Currently there are 9 D4's for sale (links below) that I know of and curiously someone else was asking for advice about D4's recently, so there's at least 2 people considering a purchase!

#042 I first saw for sale at £32k back in Aug'18 with a trader, it then appeared with Evans Halshaw in Sep'18 at £31k and has been slowly falling in price since then. I think the modest spec (Pro-Nav, H/K & 20's) isn't amazing compared to some of the others, #011 which is full Sytner AUC car with LSD is only £2k more and given some of Sytners other pricing that's not a big difference. Other than that, I have heard Evans Halshaw accused of very poor customer service but I don't have any direct experience.

Given #009, #016, #042 & #051 have all been for sale 6mths or more and seem to have bottomed out at £26-27k, I think these dealers are probably at their break-even pricing, so either there aren't any buyers or the market has fallen beyond this price point.

Thanks Caesarbob!

Interesting, I guess as an Alpina it’s lacking some of the more unique options eh.
I was curious what else it had if anything, pro Nav and hk are certainly minimums, would like it to have had an lsd but no mention in the ad, I wondered if someone like Evans would even know the significance to put in ad?
Apart from ...erm ‘laying down some 11’s’ in the test drive, is there any way to tell if 42 has an lsd or not?
Doesn’t it even have the Alpina leathers (lavalina?) etc?
Tbh the most interesting part for me is if it drives as I hear Alpinas drive, (that and sound) not sure I will need much else!
Thank you for the other options (2 ebays I hadn't seen b4), wish there were some B’s in there too.
The other specs look nice..shame I can’t do red personally! Could be worth it if they are approved as BMW want a lot for 1 yrs warranty..could be a show stopper tbh.
Thanks again
Still keen to hear from any drivers...all 41 of you!! (Actually if 9 are for sale there only 32 being driving in uk right now!!)
D3 drivers chime in too!

59 ticks all boxes you want plus with the alpina blue paint as a 2k option it would be my choice nice interior with the white piping is quite unusual also

59 is a lovely example, bit too much money for me unfortunately
I notice 44 mpg on the I drive too..pretty impressive for the performance on offer with these cars!

I would choose #009 as i love Alpina Green and its the first UK car or #016 as it has press car history and is the only one with a sunroof.

If you can get the BMW VIN you can check specs & options here: https://www.mdecoder.com/

Yes agree with bob the alpina green looks just right for the lines

51 is a very high spec individual close to what i believe is within budget for some silly reason they have changed the wheels to black but that’s a quick fix to get them back to silver as they should be

Love mineral Grey with the red

I have looked at 009 and lovely in the flesh.
But close up Wasn’t the cleanest paint work wise tho, could be corrected I guess.
I know it not Alpina specific but spending quite a bit so at least hoped for top spec audio (I do like good qual sounds)
Had enough of trying to improve lower spec Bmw audio!
Also had strange small dent thro the paint on lower door sill..can’t imagine what would have caused that’s tbh..
Has it been in the press or any vids that you know of?
May see if they will let me take it out
Seemed a nice chap and had some lovely stuff in.

Yeah why do peeps do black wheels just means you can see them and they look small, in pics at least!

I do have a thing about grey and red too!
