Autoglass repair, Autoglass break ...

Post by Charles » Tue Oct 19, 2010 6:09 pm

Neded a new windscreen for the French battle bus so Autoglass were booked to come and do the job this morning at my wife's office.

First I know of a problem is a text from herself telling me that the windscreen wiper arm has broken and we need a new one.

It transpires that matey boy from Autoglass needed to remove the wiper arms to remove/fit the screen and as he was removing one of them the arm sheared about 2" from the base.

So I call the ompany and enquire who they expect to pay for it and the conversation starts down the line of "Well it's never happened to us before so it must have been faulty - so you will need to pay".

Amusing intake of breath when I point out that the car had actually been in at Renault yesterday for an MOT (which it failed because of the screen but we knew this would be the case) and part of the MOT is a visual inspection of the wiper arms which showed up as perfectly fine.

"I'll have to chat to the technician" says he.

5 minutes later, they call back and inform me that they would be paying for it - too bloody right :!:

Replacement wiper arm installed - and they only scratched it in three places

Minor flesh wounds actually and scarcely noticeable - so not worth shouting at them about but annoying nonetheless ...
